Shooting out this question to anyone in the know on this subject.

Im looking into buying the ATI XFX Radeon™ HD5570 2GB PCI-E Graphics Card. Now the question is my internal PSU atm is a pathetic 250w so would I need a more substantial PSU.

Also I guess the more important question is will it fit into a i3 540 board.

From my own research it should be fine, it even states that the card doesn't require an external power connection, but considering this isnt an area of expertise for me I'd like someone else to confirm before I buy.

I know nothing about your board, but I'm going to say yes, it will fit.

Also without looking at any of the power requirements for the card or any of your other components, I'm going to say yes, you should upgrade to a nice 450W or so.

The 5570 is quite a low power card designed for SFF and HTPC systems. Most older cards will use as much or more power than it so unless your currently using onboard graphics you should be fine.

That said 250w is very small so you should look to upgrade you PSU anyway.

You could use this power requirements calculator (http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp) to see if you'll be ok.
