Being completely new in Ireland.

Okay. Now.. This is kind of a very weird thread, I guess. I hope not though.

So.. First of all, hello to all of you! I am really, really new here. As well in this forum as in Ireland itself. I just moved from Germany to here a month ago, and now I am working as an Au Pair. And.. you have NO idea how desperate I am to meet people in my age, who also like the same stuff as me. I hope you all don't get this wrong, but.. yeah, I think this is going to be a "I need friends!" thread. XD I am already cosplaying for years, so I was pretty happy to find out that there exist kind of bigger cosplay conventions in Ireland. Sadly, I just missed the Eirtakon. So.. yeah. How are you all? I would actually love to get to know people.. that's why I am here :) How are the irish conventions? I hope that I can get to attend one in my time I am here, which will be probably.. until June next year, maybe longer.

aww yes! well pitty you missed eirtakon...it was quite good, depending on what you are used to? nom-con in august was the best by far though...ive only ben to 4 conventions all together...well if you are only here til june thre is the new convention in January :) its in Galway though...its called AKUMAKON

Yeah, Eirtakon and Nom Con won't be on til the later half of 2011 but AkumaKon is on in January if you can get the time off!

There are also random meets organised throughout the year, just keep an eye on the forums!

Haha, yeah, Navan is pretty boring actually. I have not met many people in my age here yet.
All we have is a shopping center XD

Anyways, If the Akumakon is on a weekend I will most likely have off! I will be in Germany for two weeks over Christmas, which means I can also bring one of my Cosplays to Ireland. I really hope I can get to meet people in Dublin meanwhile though, as I said.. most of the weekends i have WAY too much freetime.

welcome to the forums and to the Irish anime,manga cosplay community. You should defiantly keep on eye out for photoshoots we will be organising in the Cosplay and EGL thread. Coming along to the cosplay photoshoots there are the best way to meet people. Also there are a group of cosplayers who post here who organise cosplay picnics in parks in Dublin. :smile:

You should try attend some of the meetups that people usually do every saturday in town. I made a post about it in another topic, but I'll say it here. :P
