    Unhappy Eircom Problems?

Since this is the tech section I might aswell post this.
The last few weeks my connection's been dropping. Eircom said they would send out a Tech but he/she never came.
Today I had a really bad moment.
During TF2 my ping rwent past 800 then my box droped the connection and I wasnt able to connect for about an hour.

Does anyone know the issue or is having the same problem Lately?

No, my eircom connection is fine.

Post up the stats from your router, and maybe we could advise.

    The standard advice is to:
    - Get a new phone/broadband splitter
    - Try different phone ports around your house

Otherwise, the boards.ie broadband forum might be a better bet.

If you don't have a phone plugged into your splitter, you don't need it at all.

The filter is for the phone line, you can just plug the router straight into the wall.

Lol I know, While I was onto support she told me to do it. Theres something wrong in the box itself so a tech will be out to fix/replace it.

I like to think, in our own way, we fixed this problem.

No they dont. Eircom offer a terrible service and support. They have horrible speeds. UPC are far superior. If only we could get someone like Virgin over here, but UPC do a fine enough job. Im enjoying my 30mb/3mb connection with no monthly cap. =] Constant Pings on TF2 of 20 - 30 on UK servers. I just wish the old Irish/UK CS/DOD scene was still about..

Are UPC really that good I have a Comp and 2 360's playign at the same time and i only have a 7 mb Speed and my ping is always around 80-100
Lagg is only an issue when these 'Spazz' attacks occur.

If either your PC or one of the 360's starts to download anything that would cause your ping to spike.

Disconnect the console or PC you aren't using at the time and see if you still get spikes in your ping.

UPC doesn't use the same lines as Eircom so you have to see first if you can even get UPC broadband. If you can you should be able to get vastly faster speeds if you can pay for them. I think though that if something was downloading even with faster speeds you'd still spike your ping unless you can set your router to divide the connection evenly among connected devices.
