    Default Gran Turismo 5

Arrghh... why must you be so Frustrating?

    Thats it in a nutshell.

There's flashes of brilliance in there. Some of the Car models and interiors are exceptional. some of the damage modelling looks glorious. Some of the lighting effects make me squeee with glee. The rain and night effects are astonishing.... there's nothing quite like ploughing through the dark with drops of rain being highlighted by your cars headlights....

And then there's the frustrating. Like the user interface. It's a dog to use. Add in some of the license tests and special events.... which can be insanely frustrating. Especially since the computer never seems to play by it's own rules. There's nothing more annoying than being disqualified out of first place because the AI car hit you in the back, or knocked you into the barriers/dirt. Especially when it happens repeatedly. Or for that matter, B-Spec mode, where the AI driver is a blinking slow moron.

Grrr.... I haven't even tried online play much yet. Though I do OK in the Time Trials.

    Anyone else here play GT5?

I tried playing the original on the playstation back in the day. I honestly can't see the attraction of simulation racing.

Same here. I like drifting corners at 100+MPH. I don't want to have to use the brake any point during a race.

The only solution I can offer you: Forza 3.

    Played it.

But dont own an Xbox 360. And there're things that annoy the hell out of me about Forza aswell... It's really a case of swings and roundabouts.

Forza has a good car tuning/painting system.... GT5 looks better, especially with premium cars. Though once you spot where they cut corners, you can't ever unsee it (Trees on the Ring for one).

I do prefer GT5 a little. I wonder if the DLC in February will be any good.
