Location

Getting to Dublin City University couldn't be easier - it's beside a motorway just outside Dublin city centre and is seviced by numerous buses. Once you're at the main entrance to Dublin City University, The Helix is just a two minute walk down to the end of the entrance road and to your left, where you'll see special Eirtakon signs pointing you to The Helix's entrance.

The university is within easy access of a number of major routes, so travelling by car or by bus should be easy if you follow the directions below.

BY CAR

From the Airport, going south

Follow the M1, direction city centre, and turn right at Whitehall Church into Collins Avenue. DCU is on the left hand side.

From the city centre, going north

Follow the airport road which takes you through Drumcondra and turn left at the Whitehall/Collins Avenue junction. DCU is on the left.

It is also possible to drive through Phibsborough towards Glasnevin, turning into the Ballymun Road. DCU is on the right hand side of the dual carriageway. Please note you will need to drive further on to the Collins Avenue/Ballymun Road junction and turn right to access the multistory carpark.

From outside Dublin, going east

From south east (N11) use the Eastlink onto the East Wall Road, then Clonliffe Road and finally onto Drumcondra Road. Turn left at the Whitehall/Collins Road junction and DCU is on the left.

From other directions around the country

Use the M50 (including Westlink if applicable). Come off the M50 at the Ballymun exit (Junction 4) and drive through Ballymun, turning left at the Collins Avenue/Ballymun Road crossroads. DCU and the multi-story carpark is on the right on Collins Avenue.

BY BUS

Dublin Bus

While DCU is well serviced by a multitude of bus routes, we recommend getting the 3, 4, 9, 11 or 13 as they leave you closest to Dublin City University.

3/3A

The 3 and the 3A are regular buses that run from Parnell Square to Larkhill or Shanard Road.
It is a 5 minute walk from the 3 terminus along Collins Avenue, or from the 3A terminus along Shanowen Avenue to DCU. Just ask the bus driver to let you off at the correct stop.

4

The 4 is a frequent bus that runs from Monkstown Avenue to Harristown.
It can be picked up from Pearse Street and O'Connell Street (stop OF, beside Dr Quirkey's) and leaves you beside DCU. Just ask the bus driver to let you off at the correct stop.

9

The 9 is a regular bus that runs from Limekiln Avenue to Charlestown Shopping Centre.
It can be picked up from Westmoreland Street and O'Connell Street (stop OF, beside Dr Quirkey's) and leaves you beside DCU. Just ask the bus driver to let you off at the correct stop.

11

The 11 is a semi-frequent bus that runs from Sandyford Industrial Estate to Wadelai Park, which is just outside DCU.
It can be picked up from Westmoreland Street and O'Connell Street (stop OG, opposite Madigan's). Just ask the bus driver to let you off at the correct stop.

13

The 13 is a regular bus that runs from Clondalkin to IKEA Ballymun.
It can be picked up from Westmoreland Street and O'Connell Street (stop OF, beside Dr Quirkey's) and leaves you beside DCU. Just ask the bus driver to let you off at the correct stop.

16

The 16 is a high-frequency service that runs from Ballinteer to Dublin Airport.
It can be picked up from Westmoreland Street and O'Connell Street (stop OG, opposite Madigan's). Just ask the bus driver to let you out at the Whitehall Road and then walk 10 minutes along Collins Avenue to DCU.

17A

The 17A is a high-frequency service that runs from Blanchardstown Shopping Center to Kilbarrack.
It runs via Coolock, Beaumont Hospital, Glasnevin and Connolly Hospital. Just ask the bus driver to let you out at the Ballymun Road/Glasnevin Avenue junction and then walk 5 minutes along Collins Avenue to DCU.

41/41C

The 41 and the 41C are regular services from Lower Abbey Street to Swords.
Just ask the bus driver to let you out at the Whitehall Road and then walk 10 minutes along Collins Avenue to DCU.

Bus Éireann

DCU is serviced directly by the 109A service from Navan, which also serves Dunshaughlin, Ratoath, Ashbourne and Dublin Airport. It is an hourly service which runs for most of the day, starting at 4am from Navan, and ending at 11.30pm from DCU.

BY TRAIN

From Connolly or Heuston Stations

From either of the main Commuter/InterCity terminals in the city centre, take the Red Line LUAS to Abbey St., then it is a 5 minute walk along O'Connell Street to one of the bus routes listed above, which will bring you to DCU.

Maynooth Line

The nearest Commuter station to DCU is Drumcondra station on the Maynooth line, directly outside is a bus stop from which you can get the 3, 11 or 13 to leave you outside the university.

DART

The nearest accessible Dart station to DCU is Howth Junction, from where you can get the 17A bus to leave you near the university.
