EirtaKon 2010 Ireland's largest anime convention

Eirtakon last night won Best Event at the annual Dublin City University Clubs & Societies Awards, besting out stiff competition from other long-established and high profile events.

The awards ceremony took place in The Helix, also the venue for Eirtakon 2010 this November, and was attended by faculty, society and committee members from all of the major clubs in DCU. Awards were voted on by a panel made up of SPC (Societies and Publications Committee) and SCC (Sports Clubs Committee) members, and shows the continued growth and success of Ireland’s largest anime convention.

Eirtakon 2009 has hit through the magical number of 1,000 attendees, cementing its place as the largest anime event in the country and attracting fans from all over the world.

Eirtakon 09's esteemed guest of honour, Kevin M. Connolly, put on a unique fan dubbing panel on both the Saturday and Sunday of Eirtakon, where lucky fans got a chance to dub over sections of Kevin's favourite anime scenes.

Just a quick word to anyone who pre-registered but has not yet received their tickets. If you bring proof of payment, ideally in the form of a print out of your Paypal confirmation, we will give you your ticket(s) at the weekend.

The Eirtakon committee is proud to announce that www.gamesnash.ie, Ireland's only dedicated online games retailer, will be present with a wide selection of games from their range available for purchase at Eirtakon. They will also be offering a unique opportunity for attendees to swap and sell their games on the day, the first of its kind in Ireland!

Eirtakon 09 is pleased to announce our second annual Anime Music Video (AMV) Competition! Last years competition was a huge success with many high quality entrants so this years competition should be a treat to behold.

The competition this year will include five categories, expanded from last years three. These are

• Action
• Comedy
• Romance
• Drama
• Character Profile

EirtaKon 09 is proud to announce Kevin M Connolly as this years Guest of Honour. Kevin is best known to anime fans for his leading roles in shows such as Rumbling Hearts and Suzuka, as well as the voice of Kain Fuery in fan favourite Full Metal Alchemist.

The Committee for EirtaKon 09 has been confirmed and has begun work on next November's convention. Stephen Fox, a veteran member of the organizing committee takes over the reins this year and promises that next year's convention will be even bigger and better than EirtaKon 08.
