Terms and Conditions

Copies of the terms and conditions will be available on request, on the website and at the registration desk over the weekend. Ignorance is not an excuse. It is your responsibility to read the terms and conditions beforehand and inquire about any problems/misunderstandings. On registering for the day or weekend you are assumed to have read and understood the terms and conditions and will therefore be subject to them.
General Convention Guidelines
- Entrance fees for the convention - €18 for one day, €25 for weekend. Pre-registration is set at €25 (€20 during the "early bird" period) for weekend tickets and includes a free Eirtakon t-shirt, while stocks last.
- Photographs and video recordings will be taken during the event by authorised Eirtakon staff. By attending the convention, you give permission for Eirtakon to utilise this media for promotional purposes with no liability. No specific media of any one person will be used without their prior written consent.
- All personal belongings are brought at the owner's risk. Eirtakon accepts no responsibility for lost or damaged personal belongings.
- Printed timetables and schedules are correct at point of print. However, the committee reserves the right to make changes to the schedules at any time, with no or limited prior notice.
- The views and opinions expressed by the Eirtakon Committee and volunteers does not necessarily represent the views of Eirtakon itself and as such should not be taken to do so unless expressly stated to.
Admission
- An over-18's ticket is required for entry to any event designated as 18+. Valid photo ID is required upon purchase of an over-18's ticket.
- The pub quiz is open only to people aged 18 and over. Valid ID required at the door.
- All children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Adults accompanying children under the age of 12 are eligible for free entry.
- On accompanying a child to the convention, it is assumed that an adult has granted permission to that child to take part in any event (depending on age restrictions) during the convention, unless the committee has been notified to the contrary.
- No animals are allowed in the convention centre at any time, with the exception of guide dogs.
- Tickets must be worn at all times, anyone in possession of but not wearing their ticket will not be granted entry until they put on their ticket.
- Tickets are non-transferable, anyone found giving their ticket to someone else will be immediately removed from the convention centre, and have their ticket confiscated.
Screenings
- Screening rooms will be age rated depending on the showings. Children under the specified age cannot enter unless accompanied by an adult.
- During screenings, complete silence is expected. Please respect your fellow con-goers.
- The use of any form of recording equipment during screenings is strictly forbidden. Anyone found using such equipment will be immediately removed from the convention centre.
Public Order
- Anyone found to be engaging in disorderly or disruptive conduct will be immediately removed from the convention centre.
- Anyone found to be physically assaulting or making any unwanted physical contact with another attendee will be immediately removed. This includes Glomping and the use of Yaoi Paddles.
- Anyone found to be in the possession of alcohol (which was not bought on the premises) or drugs will be immediately removed from the convention centre, and may be reported to An Garda SÃochána.
- Anyone found to be interfering in any equipment set up, or any Eirtakon tables, displays or signs will be immediately removed from the convention centre.
- The use of foul language, especially in the presence of younger attendees is strictly forbidden.
- No signs are allowed at Eirtakon except those considered an established part of a costume (e.g. the sign carried carried by Genma the panda). Signs offering any sort of sexual favour (e.g. hugs, kisses, glomps, etc) and signs with offensive content (regardless of whether they are "in character") are not allowed on the premises and will not be allowed entry into the convention. This applies to all types of signs and objects affixed to attendees, there are no exceptions to this.
Cosplay
- The wearing of anime or manga inspired costumes is permitted, although no real (or realistic) equipment of any military unit in existence after 1900 is permitted. This especially applies to camouflage trousers and jackets, modern helmets and any Irish Armed Forces equipment.
- Costume weaponry inspired from any anime or manga will be allowed, however the following types of weaponry are not permitted, except for during the Cosplay Masquerade:
- Edged or bladed weaponry
- Metal weaponry
- Heavy weaponry
- Any weaponry classed as such that wishes to be used during the Masquerade must be registered at the front desk, where the weapon will be checked and securely stored until the Masquerade. All weaponry is given as such at the owner's risk, Eirtakon accepts no responsibility for loss or damage.
- Airsoft weaponry is permitted only if the magazine is removed, the chamber is cleared, the weapon is unable to fire (battery is removed or weapon is de-gassed), and the orange tip is in place. Spring-loaded airsoft weaponry is not permitted.
- The Eirtakon Committee reserves the right to judge a costume unacceptable. Costumes or accessories deemed unacceptable must be removed or entry to the event will be refused.
- Suitable footwear must be worn at all times within the convention centre, anyone walking around barefoot will be asked to put on footwear.
